Panthers Move Clausen, Sign Players
Posted by: wildairraid on 2010-06-22

The Carolina Panthers' GM, WildAirRaid moved second-round draft selection Jimmy Clausen yesterday for MLB Rey Maualuga. Maualuga was the second-round selection of the Cincinatti Bengals last year. Maualuga, 23, Finished last season with 64 tackles and three forced fumbles, in 15 games. Maualuga will provide the Panthers a heavy hitter with average linebacker speed in the middle.

It seems that the Panthers were clearing the way for Tony Pike, their sixth-round selection in this year's draft. Ominous signs point towards the fact that WildAirRaid is leaning toward Pike being the projected starter going into next season, such as his camping of Pike's stats.

However, in Free Agency, the Panthers picked up Veteran QB Daunte Culpepper, giving them two 81-overall rated quarterbacks, Pike and Culpepper on the roster.

The Panthers were active in other areas of free agency, recording 4 bids in the first two minutes it opened.

Contract offers were extended to:

WR Reggie Williams. Reggie Williams will provide a big body and power that the Panthers were missing on their recieving corps, with their top two wideouts both being under 6 feet and under 200 pounds. Williams, at 6'4" 230 will provide a big security blanket for whichever quarterback starts the season.

WR Roy Hall. 6'3" 240 LBS and 90 speed. Can you say more? Hall seems poised to be another big guy to help supplement the short yardage recieving game.

HB Lorenzo Booker. Small slim speedy Booker seems poised to assist in the return game as its known for sure he wont get any playing time behind incumbents DeAngelo Williams and Jonathan Stewart.

TE Jason Dunn. The Panthers lacked a TE who could run block for smash and dash, but fixed it right here.

LOLB Thompson. Depth purposes, plus he has lots of speed.

CB Von Hutchins. Hutchins will play the nickelback, beefing up a secondary poised to be exploited when it moved into the nickel or the dime. Fixing it is pretty important, as the Panthers play Drew Brees twice a year.
